How to Spring Clean Your Online Business Presence
I have a confession to make. Most days, I feel like a completely unqualified child stuck in an aging woman's body. It doesn’t help that there are “adult responsibilities” that pop up each year that I had no idea existed. What do you mean I have to clean a dishwasher filter?!
To put it lightly, I’m often overwhelmed. Or as I’m pretty sure Alanis Morissette put it, “I’ve got one hand on my to-do list and the other one holding an iced coffee.”
If you emailed us over the last two weeks, you may have gotten an auto-responder reply letting you know that, as an agency of mothers, we were taking a little “light-work week.” After all, it was spring break and the kids were off school. But now that they are back to their daily schedules, I got this incredibly motivating whim to start cleaning and decluttering.
And I know I’m not the only one. It’s natural for the turning of the seasonal wheel to shift mindsets and energies. After all, it is called “spring cleaning” for a reason. The growing hours of daylight and sprouting flowers remind us that it's time to come alive again after a long, dark winter. However, in order to “come alive,” we have to have the clean slate to do that. For some, it means cleaning out closets and donating unused clothing to the local charity shop. For others, it may be opening windows, burning incense, and vacuuming the rugs.
But for business owners? It means all of that regular life stuff AND resetting your online presence. But don’t worry. My goal is to get you and me out of overwhelm, so I’ve made an easy checklist for you that will help you decide what needs to go, what stays, and who can help
How to Start your Spring Digital Reset
The same way you wouldn't just randomly start throwing things out of your closet (…or maybe you would, no judgment), a digital reset works best when you start with a little inventory. Before you Marie Kondo your business presence, ask yourself:
What digital platforms does my business touch? Think website, Instagram, Pinterest, Bluesky, YouTube, Dubasdo, Substack, and email campaigns.
What parts of my digital presence have I genuinely enjoyed maintaining this past season?
What have I been avoiding, dreading, or guilt-tripping myself about?
What new idea keeps nudging me that I haven't had the capacity to explore?
What has been quietly working in the background that deserves more of my attention?
There are no wrong answers here. Just honest ones.
I recommend writing it down so you can look back as you work through the checklist below. And if this was all you had the capacity to do, that’s perfectly fine. Answering these questions honestly will probably give you your very own checklist of where to go next.
But if you’re ready, here’s what to do next.
Our Spring Digital Reset Checklist
Website:
Review your homepage: does the content still reflect who you are and what you offer right now?
Read your about page with fresh eyes: Is it written in your voice? Or does it sound like a LinkedIn resume?
Update your services: do the offerings listed still excite you? Are there things you no longer offer that are still listed?
Check your contact form: is it working? Is it asking for useful information?
Refresh photos that no longer feel aligned (including your 2021 headshot)
Review your SEO: page titles, descriptions, and keywords. Do they reflect what your ideal client is searching for on google?
Fix dead links, broken pages, and “place holder” text

Blogs:
Not a blogger? It’s one of our favorite ways to stay relevant on Google and AI searches. If writing isn’t your thing or not possible in your schedule, consider hiring TLTF to write posts in your voice and publish them to your Squarespace website.
Identify your top 3 performing posts: update them with fresh content, links, or a new CTA (call to action)
Write down a list of topics that you’d actually be excited to write about: put them on the calendar
Check your meta-data: ensure every post has a description, alt text images, and keywords
Update your categories: if you use a category or tag system, update them to ensure readers and Google understand what you’re about
Remove outdated posts: if any old blogs seem off-brand and just “not you” anymore, archive them without guilt
Email List & Lead Magnet
Email template: give your template a visual refresh if it hasn’t changed in over a year
Subject lines: revisit your subject line strategy. Are they personal and driving curiosity, or feeling flat?
Re-engagement campaign: if you have subscribers who haven’t opened anything in 6+ months, consider a re-engagement sequence or a quiet list purge
Review your welcome sequence: walk through the email sequence as if you’re a brand new subscriber. Does it still feel like you? Are your offers still relevant and priced correctly?
Lead Magnet: ensure your free download is updated with current information, prices, and topics.
Branding Across All Platforms
Consistency is key: ensure your fonts, colors, and logo are being used consistently across your website, social media, email headers, and digital documents.
Bios: review your social media bios to confirm they match your current offerings, energy, and links.
Brand voice: do your posts always sound like you? Would a new website visitor instantly recognize your brand from your website content? Confirm your brand voice and tone match all your digital platforms.
Visual Branding: does your visual brand still feel like you? Or have you evolved and left your branding behind? It may be time for a branding refresh.
A Note Before You Dive In
First, breathe.
You don’t have to do all of this today, or this week, or even this month. This checklist isn’t a performance review, it’s simply an invitation to look at your brand with fresh, honest eyes and the natural oomph that spring lets us borrow just long enough before the beach starts calling us away again.
It’s also a great excuse to plan your own business retreat! Imagine…a hotel away from the kids, focused on refreshing your brand, and dedicated not only to work, but to creating space to breathe and explore.
Whether you’re at home, or sipping tea on a hotel balcony, start with the inventory. That's gold! Then, pick one thing on the checklist that feels existing or one thing that has been nagging you for attention.
